I’m sorry to hear that you were scammed out of $200. It’s important to be cautious and not share personal information or financial details over the phone or online with people you don’t know or trust. Unfortunately, scammers can be very convincing and can easily trick people into giving away their money.
You should report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at ftc.gov/complaint, and to the local police department. It’s also a good idea to contact your bank and credit card companies to alert them of the fraudulent transaction and to see if they can assist you in recovering your lost funds.
In the future, be wary of unsolicited phone calls or emails offering grants or other financial assistance, especially if they require you to purchase gift cards or provide personal information. Always verify the legitimacy of any organization or offer before providing any sensitive information or sending money.
